During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- One ticket for Driving Disqualified which carries a fine of $672
- One ticket for Driving Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
August 31st, 2022
Police received a warrant of arrest for 33-year-old David Larrance PENNER for failing to attend Provincial Court on August 24th, 2022. PENNER was before the courts on charges for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Anyone with information about PENNER’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact their local police service.
September 1st, 2022
Police were dispatched to Valleyfield Drive for a house fire in progress. Police attended and spoke with the homeowners who advised all persons were out and safe. Morden Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and the fire was extinguished.
September 5th, 2022
At 2:55am, police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near Thornhill Street and Mountain Street. Police detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver and a demand was made for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on a Roadside Screening Device, which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment along with a $700 administrative penalty.
At 4:00pm, police received a call requesting assistance with an intoxicated male who had a knife and was damaging a vehicle. Police attended and safely took the suspect into custody, subsequently transporting him to a healthcare facility for an assessment.
At 9:30pm, police arrested two individuals on 9th Street South as part of a drug investigation. Following a search of both individuals, police located a quantity of methamphetamine on both subjects. As a result a 28-year-old male and 29-year-old female, both of Morden, were released on Undertakings to attend Morden Provincial Court in November.
September 6th, 2022
At 8:10pm and 9:40pm, police conducted separate traffic stops on suspicious vehicles resulting in police requesting breath samples from the drivers. Both driver’s provided samples on a Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The drivers were issued a 72-hour driving suspension and a 3-day vehicle impoundment.
September 7th, 2022
Police were dispatched to Jefferson Street for a single vehicle rollover. Police attended and found the driver was trapped inside the vehicle with minor injuries. Morden Fire and Rescue removed the driver from the vehicle safely and he was transported to hospital by EMS.
September 8th, 2022
Police were dispatched to the 300-block of North Railway Street regarding an intoxicated person causing a disturbance. Police found a female heavily intoxicated causing a disturbance. The female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in police cells until sober.
September 11th, 2022
Police were dispatched to Parkhill Drive for a disturbance involving two people arguing on a driveway. Police attended and found a male holding a weapon arguing with a female. The male was arrested for Possessing a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and subsequently resisted arrest. Police were able to safely take the suspect into custody where he was transported to MPS. A 23-year-old Morden man was later released on an Undertaking to attend Morden Provincial Court in November.
